Inulin
Inulin is a natural food ingreadient that is foundin more than 36,000 plants including leeks, onions,Jerusalem artichoke,chicory,garlic, and wheat . Inulin are mainly comprised of fructoseunits and typically have a terminal glucose. The fructose units ininulins are joined by a beta -(2-1) glycosidic link.Plant inulins generally contain between 2 to 60 fructose units.
Inulins are a group of naturally occurring polysaccharides (several simple sugars linked together) produced by many types of plants. Inulins belong to a class of fibers known as fructans. Inulinis used by some plants as a means of storing energy and is typicallyfound in roots or rhizomes. Most plants which synthesize and store inulin do not store other materials such as starch.
Inulin is a kind of water-soluble dietary fiber, also a natural carbohydrate, almost not to be acid hydrolysis and digestion. Inulin would not been destroyed before reaching the colon. There are plenty of beneficial microbial fermentation, which makes inulin having fructooligosaccharide and dietary fiber characteristics. As a kind of functional food ingredient, inulin can be used in many kinds of food. For example, chocolate, ice cream, soft drinks, dairy products, etc.
Chicory Inulin 99%
1.Description
1. Chicory (Chicorium intybus) is one of the earliest known and most widely used raw materials for the
manufacture of coffee substitutes.
2. The major component of chicory root is inulin, which is a polymer of fructose with -(2-1) glycosidic linkages.
3. it is expected to behave like a soluble fiber and to have a hypolipidemic effect.
4. Both the fermentability and the bifidogenic effect of chicory fructooligosaccharides have been
confirmed in in vivo human studies that were
performed by feeding human volunteers a standard diet containing chicory fructooligosaccharides
(15 g/d for 15 d).
5. A significant increase in the bifidobacteria population and a profound modification of the composition of the fecal flora were observed
2.Main Function
(1) With the function of increasing human bifidobacterium and adjusting gastrointestinal function;
(2) With the function of enhancing immune function;
(3) With the function of reducing blood sugar and cholesterol;
(4) With the function of improving the fat metabolism and losing weight.
3.Application
(1) As the raw material of drugs for Insulin ,it is mainly used in pharmaceutical field
(2) As the natural functional edible polysaccharide, it is mainly used in health product industry
(3) As the raw material of low energy health food, it is mainly used in cosmetic industry.
