behind this name is not known.

cineol, estragole, ocimene and phellandrene etc. as its chief components.
May be it is in these medicinal properties what gave this plant this peculiar name. Who knows? Let us find out now.
Health Benefits of Tarragon Essential Oil
Antirheumatic: There are two main causes behind rheumatism and arthritis. The first is improper circulation of blood and
lymph, especially in the limbs, and the second is accumulation of toxins like uric acid in body. So, it is obvious what its
cure would be. It should be a circulatory first, that is, it should increase or facilitate circulation, and then it should be
detoxifier, that is, it should help remove toxins from the body.
The Tarragon Essential Oil helps with the first case. It has good circulatory properties and increases circulation which
brings warmth to the affected parts as well as does not let the uric acid accumulate at a particular place. It also helps
detoxification by stimulating urination and excretion, through which toxins are removed.
Aperitif: It stimulates secretion of digestive juices into the stomach which increases appetite. This starts right from the
mouth where the production of saliva is stimulated. Down below, the gastric juices and bile are secreted into the stomach
which speeds up digestion of the food already present, if any, in the stomach and empties the stomach, which in turn
increases appetite.
Circulatory: The Essential Oil of Tarragon improves circulation of blood and phlegm and helps in the proper distribution
of nutrients, oxygen, hormones and enzymes throughout the body as well as does not let toxins accumulate at
particular places, such as joints.
Digestive: This oil speeds up digestion by stimulating secretion of digestive juices (gastric juices such as acids and bile)
into the stomach which helps break down food into various nutrients and by stimulating the peristaltic motion of the
intestines which facilitates the motion of food through the whole digestive system.
Deodorant: The spicy smell of tarragon is used to keep body odour away. It also inhibits growth of microbes on the
skin thereby further reducing the body odour.
Emenagogue: It eases menstruations, clears obstructions in menses and regulates periods. Further, it also gives relief
from the problems like abdominal pain, nausea, fatigue, annoyance etc.
Stimulant: It stimulates brain, nervous system, digestive system, circulatory system and the endocrinal system.
This in turn stimulates the whole metabolic system and as a result, growth and immunity are stimulated.
Vermifuge: The toxicity of this oil kills the worms in the body. These include the round worms and tape worms
found in the intestines, hook worms which can abode any part of the body and even maggots on thewounds.
It is okay till it is used externally, but care should be taken when taking it orally because it is toxic.
Other Benefits: It increases appetite and treats anorexia, dyspepsia, flatulence, gas, infections in the urinary system etc.
Few Words of Caution: This oil is poisonous due presence of estragole, which is another name for methyl chavicol and hence should not be given to young children and pregnant ladies.
